Is this a rework of an older fractal, Luc? I'm sure I've faved once a similar one. I like this one here very much, to me it looks like a stage setting or a painting made for these animated cartoons, a scifi movie...hmm difficult to describe. It has some dreamy quality.
This is a sequel to my "Awakening" series (I-IV) using similar flames and gradients, so it's normal you think you have seen a similar one. Thanks a lot for your nice comment Denise, and for the as well!
Perfect for my desktop background! I honestly have very little knowledge of how a digital image like this is created. It is difficult for me to get a foothold in terms of understanding the depth of an image that i have no idea how it is rendered. It seems almost like magic, like when I would listen to music before ever learning anything about playing guitar. It really puts an interesting perspective on a work...to juxtapose the difference between viewing an image whos medium i am familiar with, and an image whos medium I have no understanding of at all.
After what you have said, maybe it's better to keep the "secret", but to give you a hint, I think digital fractal art is closer to pottery or sculpture than drawing or painting... You can't really put a line or a color exactly where you want to, instead you have to work on basic shapes (the "clay"), that you can twist, transform, fold... until you get the result you're expecting. This is most of the time a very long process.
Thank for the explanation. I think the metaphor with clay/pottery will really stick, although I still have little understanding of how digital art is done. I guess it will just take experience to really get an understaning.
I have been inspired by this particular image, and have used that inspirational energy as a jumping point for a new drawing. The texture of the fractals, in particular, I am somewhat emulating with colored pencils, although it is coming out differently as I explore it in my own directions. It is amazing how art "genres" can cross polinate so graceful and uncover new and different things. Thanks for the inspiration! I will let you know when i post it on DA.
